Playing Big, Tara Mohr

This book challenged me to work through all the things holding me back from pursuing my dream of becoming a coach. I incorporate Tara’s principles of the “Inner Critic” and “Inner Mentor” into my coaching program because that’s how impactful they were to me.

The Power of Vulnerability, Brené Brown (audio only)

This was my first experience with Brené Brown and I became a huge fan after this. Her ability to break down shame, vulnerability, and courage in such a profound yet simplistic way is so powerful. Her storyteller style makes this such an easy and fun listen.

Think Like a Monk, Jay Shetty

Another good one for anyone wanting to learn more about mindfulness, meditation, or just how to fill your life with more joy. Jay Shetty provides practical tools, advice, and a step-by-step guide to live more like a monk.

dopamine nation dr. Anna lembke recommended reading booktok

In this book, Dr. Lembke helps us understand how our desire to avoid pain is actually creating more pain in our lives. Because of the way the pleasure and pain centers of our brain are designed, too much of a good thing will lead to pain. She provides practical solutions on how to overcome our vices and addictions.

The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz

A quick, easy, but powerful read about the Four Agreements to living a life with less stress and more joy and fulfillment. These Four Agreements are easy to apply to your life and let’s just say the second agreement changed the way I think about the words others use… forever. A must read!

10% Happier, Dan Harris

If you’ve ever dipped your toe into the meditation pool but felt like it wasn’t for you, Dan Harris feels you (and so do I). He decided not to give up on the practice and instead, poured himself into it and this is his account of how it forever changed him.

How to Win Friends & Influence People, Dale Carnegie

An oldie, but a goodie. This book was originally published in 1936 (cue mind blown emoji), and while some of the examples are very old, the basic principles of this book still stand the test of time and I promise, you’ll learn something new.

The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle

If you want to work on mindfulness and to learn how to be more present, this is the book for you. One of the most powerful takeaways for me was how to separate yourself from your thoughts and the freedom and peace this can bring you.

The Now Habit, Neil Fiore, Ph.D.

Where are all my procrastinators at? Stressing out about a deadline that they still plan to do nothing about because they, “have time”? Yeah, because, same. As a procrastinator who was wanting a bit more balance, this book helped me create better systems and work on the mindset that was keeping me stuck in procrastination mode.

Negative Self-Talk & How to Change It, Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D.

This is a summary of Dr. Helmstetter’s longer works on self-talk so if you’re a “get to the point” type of person like me, you’ll enjoy this one. Negative self-talk is one of the first concepts I go over with clients because it is the #1 thing keeping us stuck. This quick read talks about why we have negative self-talk and more importantly, how to change it.
